Camber tells you what it will really cost to import a used car into Ireland, before you bid or pay. It works through the bill one line at a time: the price abroad, shipping, customs duty, import VAT, VRT, the NOx charge and the work the car needs once it lands.
Camber is an independent site. It is not affiliated with Revenue, NCTS or any government body.
What Camber does
- The landed-cost calculator shows every line of an import, with the duty rate set by where the car was built.
- Compare sets the cost of importing against the price of the same car already in Ireland.
- The guides explain each charge and each step in plain words.
- The rule tracker logs what has changed, what is coming and what is only proposed.
- Outcomes collects what importers report Revenue actually charged, without names.
Every figure is an estimate. Revenue sets the VRT when the car is presented. The disclaimer says what that means for you.
Where the rules come from
Every rate on the site cites a primary source and the date it was last verified. The rates live in one place, so a guide cannot disagree with the calculator. The current set is rules version 2026.10.4, last verified 7 October 2026.
Where a rule could not be confirmed at a primary source, it is marked "not yet confirmed" and the page says what it rests on. Confirm those with Revenue or a customs agent before you rely on them.
A proposed rule is labelled as proposed. The calculator does not apply it until it is enacted.
Who publishes Camber

Report an error
If a rate, a date or a step is wrong or out of date, email hello@camber.ie and include:
- the page where you saw it,
- what it says now and what you believe is correct,
- a source, ideally a page on revenue.ie or another official site.
Do not send a PPSN, registration documents or card details. They are not needed to check a figure. A correction is checked against the source before anything on the site is changed.
